Our A Little Wordy review, what we have to say about the quick showdown game that brings together coming up with words and guessing them before your opponent can. This is such a smart blending of interesting language and communication aspects that has plenty of depth but is never tough on your brain or your self-esteem. A great 10 minute package that is easy to get to and from the table.

Fun (8 out of 10)
For the fun section of the A Little Wordy review, we award a very good 8 out of 10. This game blends together two interesting things into a quick and easy showdown package. A Little Wordy is a word forming gaming, like Scrabble or Boggle, and matches it up with a clue guessing and deduction game that is kind of along the lines of Decrypto. You secretly form a word at the beginning and then take turns trying to gather information to guess your opponent’s before they do the same to you.
Since this works, has never really been done in this way and is wrapped up in a tight package, the result is that this is a fun game. You do not need to be a language genius, but there is enough variety in what you draw from the bag to at least make you think in that space. The clues are fun and really just a vessel for you to communicate with your opponent, like any good party game.
Replayability (6 out of 10)
For the replayability section of the A Little Wordy review, we award a solid 6 out of 10. There is a ton of freshness in this game and it is very quick and easy to get to the table and through. A quick 10 minute round is all about the one word you put together. Getting to that word can take so many different forms that it feels like a new journey each time.
This game gives you the canvas to have fun with a friend as it should. You are not that committed to the game, it just gives you the tools to have a good experience. If you like the mix of word-forming and deduction, this is easily one you are going to want to play over and over. The 2 player max makes sense though it is a bit limiting.
Player Interaction (8 out of 10)
For the player interaction section of the A Little Wordy review, we award a fantastic 8 out of 10. Whenever you have a game that is only for two players, it better be a fantastic tit-for-tat showdown. This game makes the cut. You and your opponent are raising towards a goal and the information coming out can be your best friend or worst enemy. You have to take more than you give.
All of your information is coming from your opponent and the way you quickly go back and forth makes for a high tension showdown that constantly feels like the stakes keep rising. The balance is just so nice, even if you are not lucky when you grab the 10 letters out of the bag, your opponent still needs to take a path, through you, to get there.
Quality (8 out of 10)
For the quality section of the A Little Wordy review, we award a great 8 out of 10. You get one of those rare feelings from this one where you think “why has this never existed before?” It is very simple but just makes so much sense. Whenever you are bringing things together, it is a balancing act and this has just the right amount of word building and just enough mystery to solve.
Everything about the production is solid. The game fits in a smaller box and has a price point to match. There ins’t too much to it, because of the two player count, but it is still worth it. There are great player shields and the quality of the tokens is about as good as you are going to get for the type. Each thing matters and has had great thought put into it.
Art & Style (7 out of 10)
For the art & style section of the A Little Wordy review, we award a great 7 out of 10. You would expect great fun artwork from the company that brought you Exploding Kittens and here you would be right. Instead of an adorable cat theme, this is all about Twitter like birds. For a party game that could easily have not theme, the creators of this game put a lot into making something special that has all this extra fun flare.
There is tons of information and it is all organized and presented well. Things are just efficient and well done. Nothing about this game was a throwaway, everything has its place and was designed to fit.

A Little Wordy Review | Board Game Halv

A Little Wordy is a very lively party game that blends word building and deduction crammed into a exciting 10 minute package unlike anything else out there. The 2 player count is limiting but that is only because it is absolutely built for that showdown space and perfect for what it is. This is a very good option for that smaller game box price. This takes the best parts of two different genres that can be a little dry and makes them incredibly fun and high stakes. This has been our A Little Wordy review, we hope you enjoyed it!
