February 17, 2021 – Pandasaurus Games, the publisher behind the popular cooperative card game simply titled “The Game” has just announced that a brand new version in the franchise is finally coming from Europe over to the States. Aptly titled, “The Game: Face To Face” is a version of the game that is specifically built for two players. Other games have done it in the past, see 7 Wonders Duel or Codenames Duet, and it always seems to work out. Whenever a game is built for a specific player count, you need it is going to be good with that number of participants.
Originally released in Europe back in 2017, the title is finally coming to North America this April. In case you are unfamiliar, in The Game, everyone needs to work together by getting rid of the cards in their hand. There are stacks that go in ascending and descending order, you need something to play and you need to find opportunities to reset the stack and get as many cards out of your hand as possible.
This is not the only alternative edition to the popular game. In 2019, Pandasaurus released the Game: Quick & Easy, which as the title suggests, is a more streamlined version of the popular original. It is by no means a weaker version, just something different and a good supplement to the original. All signs point to this being the same thing. When you have a designer like Steffen Benndorf (Qwixx, Ohanami), you know you are in good hands

We’re bringing you another riff on the best-selling card game The Game with a strictly two-player version called The Game: Face to Face — releasing April 28!
This title was originally released in Europe in 2017, but it’s coming overseas in just a few weeks. Seeing as most of the world will still be staying indoors the rest of the year, this is the perfect game to play with your Player #2.
Your ultimate goal is to be the first to discard all the cards in your deck. However to pull it off, you’ll inevitably have to help your opponent.
On your turn, you’ll play at least 2 cards from your hand of 6. The twist comes from where you can play them. Of course, your own ascending and descending piles are fair game and follow the normal rules of The Game.
But exactly once per turn, you can play a card on one of your opponent’s piles, breaking all rules. This ultimately helps them out, as it pushes whatever pile you played on away from its upper limit.
