#05 | Risk
The bottom spot on the list of board games like Fornite goes to the game of World Domination. Just like Fornite is a classic, so is the strategic last person standing combat game Risk. Instead of just one individual, you are fighting as an army, but the end goal is the same.
In Risk, you take on one of the armies and stake out your part of the world. Using a map mimicking the real world map, you try to take as many territories and continents as possible to build up your forces. The more you have, the more troops you get to attack with. Individual battles take place over 1-on-1 dice roles with simple rules that give victory to the highest. The final army standing is the winner. For 3 – 8 players, games take about 1 – 5 hours.

#04 | A Game of Thrones: The Board Game
Not many things out there have the name recognition that Fornite has, but the monster TV show Game of Thrones certainly does. This entry on the list of board games like Fornite actually uses that name for good. This is a good game and it has many similarities to the spirit of Fornite. There are many more strategic elements going on that in Fortnite but the area control and epic battle for the crown shines through in each.
You take on the role of one of the great Houses of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, as they vie for control of the Iron Throne through the use of diplomacy and warfare. Game of Thrones is an epic board game in which it will take more than military might to win. Through strategic planning, masterful diplomacy, and war, you will achieve victory. For 3 – 6 players, games last about 2 – 4 hours.

#03 | King of Tokyo
A game on the list of board games like Fornite that is a little different from the others is King of Tokyo. Yes, it is all about going into an all-out battle with multiple parties where there can be only one, but it is much less committal. You can go in and out of danger and in and out of being the enemy. It is more condensed though and has the same strategic king of the hill vibe of Fornite.
In King of Tokyo, you are one of several monsters all bent on taking over Tokyo. You all start outside the city and on your turn you can enter if it is empty. The game is all dice rolling, either points, damage, health or energy. If you are in Tokyo, it is everyone else against you, if you are outside then it is you against the lone monster in Tokyo. You get more points for being in the city, but have a better chance of dying. The game ends when someone hits a certain number of points or there is only one left standing. For 2 – 6 players, games last about 20 minutes.

#02 | Arena: For the Gods!
Arena: For The Gods! is like Fortnite because it is another contest of many battling to be the final winner in an enclosed space filled with both danger and opportunity. The gameplay is moving on a grid to initiate dice rolling attacks against others. Items are gained through a bidding/auction system.
Arena: For the Gods! has two phases. First, you use your life points to bid for the best equipment, mounts, and weapons. Then you head into battle to try to inflict as much damage as possible without dying. Once someone dies, it is over and the remaining life points matter. Arena is set against a mythological backdrop, featuring some of the most famous members of various cultures’ myths and histories. For 2 – 6 players, games last about 30 – 40 minutes.

A game that does a pretty good job of transferring the elements of that style of video game into a board game. The gameplay is grabbing cards and making strategic attacks on other players by moving on a big grid.
