CHANGES TO 2020 HUNTER & GATHERS VERSION:

Scoring features will look familiar to veteran Carcassonne players, but with a few key differences that make Hunters & Gatherers a unique gaming experience in its own right. For instance, players can place a tribe member (a meeple) to claim grasslands just as they might claim a field, but grasslands vary in points value depending on the types and number of animals present. Likewise, rivers will score similarly to roads, but the number of fish in the river system will increase the points you earn from completing it.

Forests that have menhirs—tall, standing stones like Stonehenge—will also grant players a bonus. When a player completes a forest with a menhir, that player takes a bonus menhir tile, placing it and resolving its effect as an extra action. Menhir tiles can help you score bonus points on your claimed features, or even drive animals from the grasslands with a raging wildfire. Place menhir tiles strategically to make the most of your bonus action!

Since Carcassonne: Hunters & Gatherers was first released in 2002, it’s become one of the most popular standalone versions in the Carcassonne series. The new edition of Hunters & Gatherers includes all the same great gameplay, plus updated art and additional menhir tiles with unique effects.
