#01 | Ticket To Ride (2004)
Just simply Ticket To Ride is the original game that started it all. It is one large map of the United States with a little Canada thrown in. This is a stand-alone game that has everything you need to play.
With elegantly simple gameplay, Ticket to Ride can be learned in under 15 minutes. Players collect cards of various types of train cars they then use to claim railway routes in North America. The longer the routes, the more points they earn. Additional points come to those who fulfill Destination Tickets – goal cards that connect distant cities; and to the player who builds the longest continuous route.
“The rules are simple enough to write on a train ticket – each turn you either draw more cards, claim a route, or get additional Destination Tickets,” says Ticket to Ride author, Alan R. Moon. “The tension comes from being forced to balance greed – adding more cards to your hand, and fear – losing a critical route to a competitor.” This is the biggest star by far on the full list of Ticket To Ride Games.

#02 | Ticket To Ride Mystery Train Expansion (2004)
Good luck finding this one. This was a promo expansion for the original Ticket To Ride game that was given out at Essen in October 2004, and in the December 2004 Game Trade Magazine. It is small but it is part of the Ticket To Ride universe. What is nice, is they brought it back in the 10th Anniversary edition.
Mystery Train – A Ticket to Ride Expansion adds some cards to the Ticket deck. Four of these are routes the other additions aren’t actual tickets, though. Instead, they are special cards that allow you to get bonus points at the end of the game, with the exception of one card that allows you to, in lieu of a turn, look through the entire deck of tickets and take any card you want.
One card lets you double the value of any ticket that you make (only for cards worth 10 or less), one gives you bonus points for making a cross-country route, one gives you bonus points for a west coast route and one gives you bonus points for connecting to the most cities. A cool addition to the complete list of Ticket To Ride games if you can find it. Try to make it at home.

#03 | Ticket To Ride Europe (2005)
After the monster success of the original Ticket To Ride, which showcases most of North America, it only made sense to do the exact same thing but with Western Europe. Though the initial games on the complete list of Ticket To Ride games are over 15 years old, they are still amongst the most popular of all map options. This is a stand-alone version of the game.
Ticket to Ride: Europe takes you on a new train adventure across Europe. From Edinburgh to Constantinople and from Lisbon to Moscow, you’ll visit great cities of turn-of-the-century Europe. Like the original Ticket to Ride, the game remains elegantly simple, can be learned in 5 minutes, and appeals to both families and experienced gamers.
More than just a new map, Ticket to Ride: Europe features brand new gameplay elements. Tunnels may require you to pay extra cards to build on them, Ferries require locomotive cards in order to claim them, and Stations allow you to sacrifice a few points in order to use an opponent’s route to connect yours. The game also includes larger format cards and Train Station game pieces.

#04 | Ticket To Ride USA 1910 Expansion (2006)
The first full release expansion on the complete list of Ticket To Ride board games is set in the year it is named after. The major changes have to do with the different cards that fuel the game.
This includes 35 new 1910 Destination Tickets, a GlobeTrotter Bonus card for completing the most tickets, 4 Mystery Train Destination Tickets originally provided in the Ticket to Ride: Mystery Train Expansion expansion, and a complete replacement deck of the 141 cards from the original game deck (30 Destination Tickets (4 cards have a reduced value from Ticket to Ride), 110 Train Cards, and 1 Longest Route Bonus Card (Trans America Express)).
USA 1910 also provides different ways to play. (1) The 1910 Rules: Played as the standard Ticket to Ride, but using only the 1910 Destination Tickets, and GlobeTrotter Bonus card. (2) The Big Cities Rules: Played with only the newly identified 35 “Big City” Destination Tickets (15 Standard Tickets, 19 1910 Tickets, and 1 Mystery Train Ticket). (3) The Mega Game: featuring all of the game’s Destination Tickets and Bonus Cards (30 Standard Tickets, 35 1910 Tickets, 4 Mystery Train Tickets, and both Bonus cards).

#05 | Ticket To Ride Märklin (2006)
There are 27 different versions and a whole bunch of different maps on the complete list of Ticket To Ride Board Games ranked, but it is pretty widely considered that Märklin is the best map. It is said that the route options make for the most strategic layout of any map, but it could also just be because it is hip, or because it is the hardest to find and makes you more of a pro if you have played it.
The board for Märklin is based on a map of Germany and each individual card in the deck depicts a different Märklin Trains model. A DVD introducing players to the Märklin line of model trains was included in original versions, though later runs got rid of the outdated technology.
Märklin is a heavier version in the TTR series, allowing players to not only travel from city to city but also from cities to countries. A new mechanic is also introduced in the form of passengers and merchandise tokens. When the game is set-up a series of merchandise values worth victory points are placed on nominated cities. The values of these tokens diminish when multiple tokens are present within a single city, requiring players to move quickly to capture the higher valued tokens. One of the cooler mechanics on the full list of Ticket To Ride Games.

#06 | Ticket To Ride Nordic Countries (2007)
Ticket to Ride: Nordic Countries takes you on a Nordic adventure through Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden as you travel to the great northern cities of Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki, and Stockholm. This was originally a limited edition just to be released in those countries, but it was popular and a great final product, so produced for worldwide distribution.
The goal in “Nordic” remains the same as base Ticket to Ride: collect and play cards to place your trains on the board, attempting to connect the different cities on your ticket cards. The map incorporates tunnels from Europe and also has routes containing ferries. Ferries will require a certain number of Locomotives to be played, as well as other cards, in order to be claimed. Locomotives are handled a bit differently as well. On your turn you may take 2 Locomotives if you want, but you can only use them on ferries, tunnels, or the special 9 length route.
Unlike the USA or Europe maps, Nordic is designed for 2-3 players only and has a heavier focus on blocking your opponent and more aggressive play. This is a stand-alone version of the game that has what you need.

#07 | Ticket To Ride Switzerland (2007)
This is the first title on the full list of Ticket To Ride games to be a map as an expansion. That means you need the cards and pieces from the original or Europe version of the game in order to play. A good solution instead of needed to get the same components over and over. This map was later reprinted in the Switzerland & India expansion.
It comes with a new board, 46 new destination cards and a set of rules (in several languages) to create a new game. The Ticket to Ride: Switzerland map and rules first appeared as an exclusive map for the Ticket to Ride computer game. In addition to being specifically designed for a smaller number of players, the map has several new features.
Locomotive cards are used exclusively for tunnels (which work as they do in Ticket to Ride: Europe). Some destination cards have an end point inside Switzerland and other possible ends in adjacent countries (the value of the completed card is based on the farthest possible connection completed). There are also destination cards for connections between adjacent countries. A good milestone in the complete list of Ticket To Ride board games timeline.

#08 | Ticket To Ride Dice Expansion (2008)
Something completely different on this full list of Ticket To Ride games is a an expansion that brings in dice. Dice replace cards in this fast-paced expansion for any Ticket to Ride version.
In this expansion for the series, players still attempt to complete their Destination Tickets and claim routes and block each other on the map. But rather than draw and collect Train cards, they roll five custom Train dice each turn. Depending on the outcome they can re-roll some or all, then use the dice to claim routes on the board; grab Route Tokens for future use; or draw more Destination Tickets.
This addition to the series adds a dynamic Yahtzee element to the game. Some people say dice only add luck to a game that is already at the perfect strategy level, but some say the having to rely on which cards train cards come up is too much about luck. It is not better or worse, just different.

#09 | Ticket To Ride Card Game (2008)
When taking a look at the complete list of Ticket To Ride board games ranked, this is by far the odd man out. That doesn’t mean it is no good. This game recreates the excitement, fun, and nail-biting tension of the original but with different unique gameplay twists in a satisfying card game.
Players collect sets of illustrated Train cards, which are then used to complete Destination Tickets – routes between two cities depicted on each ticket. But before their Train cards can be used, players must face the risk of “train robbing,” where another player may force them to lose their hard-earned cards.
Each player is dealt train car cards and destination ticket cards. All these cards are kept secret from the other players until played or scored. Each player may keep all their ticket cards, just one or any number in between. A player’s turn has two parts: first the player moves face up train car cards from their Railyard to their face down, On-the-Track stack; second the player may perform one of the following actions: 1) draw more train car cards, 2) place train car cards in their Railyard, or 3) draw destination tickets.

#10 | Ticket To Ride Europa 1912 Expansion (2009)
Europa 1912 is an expansion with more tickets and modes for Europe and depots and warehouses for any Ticket to Ride. If you are looking for something in similar on the full list of Ticket To Ride games, it is very much like the 2006 release of “USA 1910”. The focus is on more new cards as opposed to a new map.
The Ticket to Ride Europa 1912 expansion for the Ticket to Ride series includes 101 Destination Tickets – the 46 original tickets, plus 55 new ones that enable 3 new variants to the Ticket to Ride Europe map: Europe Expanded, which adds 19 new routes to the original 46; Big Cities of Europe, with tickets to 9 major European cities; and Mega Europe, which uses all the new routes as well as the 46 original Destination Tickets.
This expansion also introduces Warehouses & Depots – new game rules and pieces that create an additional strategic layer and can be played with any of the Ticket to Ride maps. Wooden Train Depots are placed on cities selected by each player. Throughout the game, each player’s Warehouse will accumulate Train cards and those who have the foresight, clever timing, or just plain good fortune to build a route to a Depot can make off with a fistful of Train cards. A cool twist for any of the titles on this full list of Ticket To Ride versions, whether just a stand-alone or with other expansions.

#11 | Ticket To Ride Team Asia / Legendary Asia Expansion (2011)
This is the first of many in their map making series that was all about new 2-sided boards having a different map on each, to be sold as an expansion to use with any other stand alone TTR title. New destination cards are also included.
In Team Asia, four or six players compete as two-player teams, with teammates sitting next to one another at the table. Each player has their own secret hand of cards and tickets, in addition to some cards and tickets being placed in a shared cardholder that either player on the team can access. When looking at the complete list of Ticket To Ride Board Games ranked, this is a good option.
In Legendary Asia, the main change in this set-up is that some of the routes through Asia are labeled mountain routes, with one or more spaces on the route bearing an X. Whenever a player claims one of these routes, she must place a train from their reserve in the Mountain Crossing area of the game board, earning two points for each such train but losing access to them for the rest of the game. The player who connects to the most cities in a single network earns a ten point “Asian Explorer” bonus.

#12 | Ticket To Ride India / Switzerland Expansion (2011)
India & Switzerland is the 2nd entry in the Ticket to Ride Map Collection and is a 2-sided map board and destination cards to reflect those countries. Switzerland is the only map in this full list of Ticket To Ride Games that is actually a reprint of a former expansion.
In India, the board is setup for 2-4 players. In addition to scoring points for claiming routes and completing tickets, a player can also score points in two other ways. Having the longest continuous path of trains receives a ten point bonus and each player scores bonus points for connecting the cities on one or more tickets with two distinct routes. The first two such tickets earn five additional points each, and the next three earn ten points each for a maximum bonus of 40 points.
In Switzerland, instead of connecting only cities, some destination tickets connect a city to a country or one country to any of those surrounding Switzerland; a player who completes such a ticket scores the highest point value for which they qualify. Unlike most other TtR games, discarded tickets are removed from the game instead of being returned to the ticket deck. Also, Locomotives can be used only to build tunnels. A good mix for the complete list of Ticket To Ride board games ranked.

#13 | Ticket To Ride Alvin & Dexter Expansion (2011)
With a tagline like “Trains just got dangerous! Alvin the Alien and Dexter the Dinosaur join the fun.” I think we know which entry on the complete list of Ticket To Ride board games ranked is the wackyest. This is an expansion that can be added to any other version of the game.
These monsters stymie players both during the game and once it ends. During play, no routes can be built into or out of a city where Alvin or Dexter are currently nesting, and during the final score tallying, any destination ticket showing a city where either monster stands is worth only half its normal value.
Desperately need to build a route to Seattle, Paris, or wherever else a roaming monster has set up shop? Discard one (or two) wild locomotive cards, and you can move the monster up to three (or six) cities away from its current location. Move a monster more than any other player, and you’ll pick up an endgame bonus for your role as monster minder. An out there, but welcome addition to the full list of Ticket To Ride games.

#14 | Ticket To Ride The Heart of Africa Expansion (2012)
The 3rd volume in the Ticket To Ride Map Collection is The Heart of Africa. This is the first one to not be a double sided board with two different maps, but instead, a much more robust focus on one. Take in a look at the full list of Ticket To Ride game versions, this is the only one that deals with the continent of Africa and it is a good one.
Set in the vast wilderness of Africa at the height of its exploration by intrepid explorers, missionaries and adventurers, Ticket to Ride Map Collection: Volume 3 – The Heart of Africa, a single-sided expansion map for Ticket to Ride or Ticket to Ride: Europe, focuses on the central and southern “heart” of the continent displayed in a vertical format.
This expansion introduces 45 new terrain cards, divided into three different terrain types. Each type is associated with different route colors: Desert/Savanna cards for yellow, orange and red routes; Jungle/Forest cards for green, blue and purple routes; and Mountain/Cliff cards for black, white and grey routes. Players can draw terrain cards just like train cards and they may use these to double the value of the routes they claim, under certain conditions.

#15 | Ticket To Ride Nederland Expansion (2013)
The 4th volume in the Ticket To Ride Map Collection is Nederland. This is the second TTR game version in this series to not be a double-sided board with two different maps, but instead, a much more robust focus on one. Use this board and new rules with any stand-alone version of the game.
Ticket to Ride: Nederland twists this gameplay in two ways. First, nearly every route on the game board is a double-route, with two tracks connecting cities. Both of these routes are in play no matter how many players are in the game.
And there is money taking the game in a Monopoly direction!! Every route — whether double or single — has a bridge toll that a player must pay when building on that route. On a single route or the first track of a double route, the player pays this toll — which costs 1-4 coins — to the bank; on the second track of a double route, the player pays this toll to the player who built the first track. This might be the coolest mechanic in the entirety of the complete list of Ticket To Ride board games ranked.

#16 | Ticket To Ride 10th Anniversary Edition (2014)
This is a re-release of the original game ten years later, with a much nicer box and components. The biggest update is the player trains that instead of just a color, have a unique theme and style with very ornate detail. If you like trains but hate this game, it would probably still be worth it just for them.
There is nothing new gameplay-wise, it is the game you know and love. Players collect cards of various types of train cars they then use to claim railway routes in North America. The longer the routes, the more points they earn. Additional points come to those who fulfill Destination Tickets – goal cards that connect distant cities; and to the player who builds the longest continuous route.
Not only do you get the base game, but you get two great expansions from the full list of Ticket To Ride games that have released so far. That includes cards from Mystery Train (a very hard to find promo from 04) and USA 1910.

#17 | Ticket To Ride United Kingdom / Pennsylvania (2015)
The 5th volume in the Ticket To Ride Map Collection is a 2-sided map of the United Kingdom and Pennsylvania in the US. In addition to including new destination cards, there are also some new rules that make the blending of these two locations make a little more sense.
The Pennsylvania half of this map collection adds a share mechanism to the basic TtR game. Each time that a player completes a route, they claim a share of one of the companies depicted next to that route. At the end of the game, whoever holds more shares of a company than all other players receives points as a reward.
The United Kingdom half of this map collection introduces the concept of technology to the full list of Ticket To Ride games. Players start by building only one- and two-train routes and only in England. By spending wild cards, players gain the ability to build routes three trains long or longer, in addition to being able to build ferries across water and build train routes in Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Players can also buy bonus cards that allow them to score extra points for taking certain actions during play.

#18 | Ticket To Ride Orient Express Expansion (2015)
After four years, Orient Express marked the return of Ticket To Ride to the mini-expansion game. There is no new map, Orient Express focuses on new cards and rules. This expansion is built to go specifically with TTR Europe.
The set consists of seven new destination tickets, with these tickets set along the line of this legendary railroad. To use them, simply shuffle them into your deck of destination tickets. The terminals are Athena, Budapest, Constantinople, London, Munchen, Paris and Venezia.
On the rules side, this is probably the light addition of any expansion to the complete list of Ticket To Ride board games ranked, but thematically it makes so much sense. In it’s time, the Orient Express was the gold standard for train lines. To change the balance of the game so one central and legendary train line is the potential for more points, brings some new exciting competition.

#19 | Ticket To Ride First Journey (2016)
Ticket To Ride is a very accessible game that even young kids can pick up. However, if you are concerned, or need to make it more appealing to a kid that might not be into it, there is this version of the Ticket To Ride franchise. First Journey is a much more scaled-down version that is geared specifically at a younger audience. This is an adation of the original US map.
The game board shows a map of the United States with certain cities being connect by colored paths. Each player starts with four colored train cards in hand and two tickets; each ticket shows two cities, and you’re trying to connect those two cities with a contiguous path of your trains in order to complete the ticket.
On a turn, you either draw two train cards from the deck or discard train cards to claim a route between two cities; for this latter option, you must discard cards matching the color and number of spaces on that route. If you connect the two cities shown on a ticket with a path of your trains, reveal the ticket, place it face up in front of you, then draw a new ticket. There are limited paths to be claimed.

#20 | Ticket To Ride Rails & Sails (2016)
Ticket to Ride: Rails & Sails takes the familiar gameplay of Ticket to Ride and expands it across the globe — which means that you’ll be moving across water, of course, and that’s where the sails come in. A cooler stand-alone edition on the full list of Ticket To Ride games.
In Ticket to Ride: Rails & Sails players start with tickets in hand that show two cities, and over the course of the game they try to collect colored cards, then claim routes on the game board with their colored train and ship tokens, scoring points while doing so. When any player has six or fewer tokens in their supply, each player takes two more turns, then the game ends. At that point, if they’ve created a continuous path between the two cities on a ticket, then they score the points on that ticket; if not, then they lose points instead.
Ticket to Ride: Rails & Sails includes a double-sided game board, with one side showing the world and the other side showing the Great Lakes of North America. Players start with a differing number of cards and tokens depending on which side they play, and each side has a few differences in gameplay.

#21 | Ticket To Ride Germany (2017)
After several years without one, Ticket To Ride Germany was released as a new stand-alone country-specific map. It makes sense, Germany is one of the largest board game markets in the world, especially if you look at population size.
There is one twist to the rules. whenever a player places a route on the board, they claim a passenger from the two cities that form the endpoints for that route (assuming that the passengers have not already been claimed). At the end of the game, whoever has the most passengers of each of the six colors scores 20 points for that color; whoever has the second most passengers in a color scores 10 points.
The layout takes you through some of the most iconic cities in Germany, but if you are trying to imagine how gameplay compares to other titles on the full list of Ticket To Ride games, it is very similar to scope and options of Europe.

#22 | Ticket To Ride France / Old West Expansion (2017)
After a 2 year hiatus, the 6th volume in the Ticket To Ride Map Collection is a 2-sided map of France and “The Old West”. This set adds both a key country to the full list complete list of Ticket To Ride board games in France, as well as a cool thematic idea in the Old West side.
In the France half of this expansion, 2-5 players collect train cards and claim routes in order to complete tickets in hand, but most of the tracks on the board aren’t colored! Each time that you draw cards, you must take a colored tile that’s 2-5 train cars long and place that tile on an empty track bed. Once you’ve done this, any player can claim that route by discarding the appropriately colored cards from hand, as in any other Ticket to Ride game. Multiple track beds on the game board overlap, and once a tile has placed on the board, any track beds crossed by this tile are off-limits and nothing can be built on them.
In the Old West half of the expansion, 2-6 players start the game by choosing (in reverse player order) a starting location for one of their three city pieces. The first route that a player claims must have this city as one of the route’s two endpoints, and each subsequent route claimed must connect to that player’s existing network. After claiming a route, a player can place one of their remaining cities on either end of that route by discarding a matching pair of train cards. Only one city marker can be in each city.

#23 | Ticket To Ride First Journey Europe (2017)
The second edition of the “First Journey” series does the exact same thing as the first game, but here instead of the US, the map is an adaption of the original Europe map.
The game board shows a map of Europe with certain cities being connect by colored paths.

#24 | Ticket To Ride New York (2018)
The first stand-alone title on the full list of Ticket To Ride games to be based on a city instead of a country is Ticket To Ride New York. The game follows the same rules as the base game but tries to re-skin everything to be as thematic as possible.
Each player starts with a supply of 15 taxis, two transportation cards in hand, and one or two destination tickets that show locations in Manhattan/Brooklyn. On a turn, you either draw two transportation cards from the deck or the display of five face-up cards; or you claim a route on the board by discarding cards that match the color of the route being claimed; or you draw two destination tickets and keep at least one of them.
The theme puts things in terms of “tourists seeing attractions” instead of the normal moving trains across the country but everything is basically the same. The innovative thing they did here is bring some additional culture to something that is going to appease people who live there, have visited or aspire to do either.

#25 | Ticket To Ride London (2019)
After the success of making a Ticket To Ride game based on a city instead of a country with New York, they did the same thing with the great European city of London. Again, this is a thematic play to be more about pumping up London rather than bringing in any new innovative rules.
Each player starts with a supply of 15 double-decker busses, two transportation cards in hand, and one or two destination tickets that show locations in London. On a turn, you either draw two transportation cards from the deck or the display of five face-up cards; or you claim a route on the board by discarding cards that match the color of the route being claimed; or you draw two destination tickets and keep at least one of them.
Just like New York, this game brings the culture of the city to life and puts you into more relatable and rich locations that you can feel instead of just some generic city that is just one of many. Similar to how Monopoly makes different versions to relate to those familiar, this does the same.

#26 | Ticket To Ride Japan / Italy Expansion (2019)
The 7th volume in the Ticket To Ride Map Collection is a 2-sided map of one of the most historically significant countries from Asia, Japan, and one of the most historically significant countries from Europe, Italy. They continue to get creative with the rule tweaks on these different versions of maps for the full list of Ticket To Ride games, but they continue to impress.
In the Japan half of the expansion, some routes are reserved for the Bullet Train network, and once such a route is claimed, it can be used by all players to complete destination tickets. To claim such a route, discard a number of cards equal to the length of the route with all the card being the same color, then mark the route with a single Bullet Train miniature.
In Italy, the game board is divided into regions, and players score bonus points based on how many regions they connect in their network, with three regions — Sardegna, Sicilia, and Puglia — counting as two regions in your tally. If you have separate networks, then you score each one separately.

Ticket To Ride Amsterdam is a version that will have you claim trade routes to complete contracts in 17th century Amsterdam. This is the 8th stand alone version based on a location to be released on the full list of Ticket To Ride games.
You are in the middle of the Gouden Eeuw, the Dutch Golden Age. Amsterdam is the beating heart of global trade and the wealthiest city on Earth. Goods from around the world are piling up on the docks, in ship holds, in warehouses, and on the banks of its countless canals. You mean to profit from this!
Each player starts with a supply of 16 carts, two transportation cards in hand, and one or two trade contract tickets that show locations in the Amsterdam market. On a turn, you either draw two transportation cards from the deck or the display of five face-up cards; or you claim a route on the board by discarding cards that match the color of the route being claimed; or you draw two trade contract tickets and keep at least one of them.

You missed out the Poland (Polska) map.
Hi Paul, we specifically left it off because it was a special release that is not too available to the rest of the world but your observation of noticing its absence is noted. Thanks!
We play every weekend faithfully. We have 9 or 10 of the different versions and alternate between them. My husbands favourite seems to be Old West as well as Africa. I like them all and can’t come up with a favourite. I always watch for any new ones. A few years back there was a hint of a completely Canadian one with North West Territories around but haven’t seen or heard of it since. That would be interesting.
