April 18, 2022 – It was announced today that an Exploding Kittens TV Show is coming to Netflix. It will be an animated show and oh wow the talent behind this thing is unbelievable. The show is set to launch next year.

The news was reported by Hollywood trade publication Deadline which shared all the details after entertainment giant Netflix, where it will stream worldwide, made the series order.

Exploding Kittens will follow the eternal conflict between heaven and hell as it reaches epic proportions when both God and the devil are sent to Earth — in the bodies of chunky house cats.

Voice talent will include Tom Ellis (Lucifer), Abraham Lim (The Boys), Lucy Liu (Elementary), Ally Maki (Wrecked), Mark Proksch (What We Do in the Shadows) and Sasheer Zamata (Woke).

As amazing as that voice cast is, you need to look at the producers on this because that amount of talent coming together here is rare. The two names that first jump out, because they are of the most prolific showrunners of our generation, are Mike Judge (Beavis & Butthead, King of the Hill, Silicon Valley) and Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks & Recreation, Upload). Then you have producer powerhouse and founder of The Chernin Group, Peter Chernin who just gets good products done.

Speaking of The Chernin Group, a larger media and other holdings company, there is a very synergistic connection that makes sense. Publisher Exploding Kittens (yes, the same name as the game) is part of their portfolio. According to their site, “Exploding Kittens is a portfolio company held by vehicles managed by TCG.”

The showrunner producers for the new Exploding Kittens TV Show, who are the creative drivers and run the day to day, will be Shane Kosakowski (You’re The Worst, Teenage Bounty Hunters) and Matthew Inman who was a creative consultant on Secret Life of Pets 2 and is the founder of publisher Exploding Kittens.

Said Exploding Kittens now Chief Creative Officer Matthew Inman: “We actually launched Exploding Kittens on Kickstarter as a weekend project, but our community has been the heart and soul of the company over the past six years. The new series and game will give our fans new ways to connect and interact with the franchise.”

This all sounds like a winning package and perhaps a franchise starter. Thanks Deadline for the scoop, the publication also announced the news of an Exploding Kittens mobile game. It joins games including Stranger Things: 1984, Shooting Hoops and Card Blast on the Netflix service.

Other games Exploding Kittens (publisher) games include: Throw Throw Burrito, A Little Wordy, Poetry for Neanderthals, A Game of Cat & Mouth, You’ve Got Crabs, Tacocat Spelled Backwards and more.
