Agricola makes the list of games like Anachrony because this is another title where you have limited decision options and you must choose between building or feeding. The game is much more linear than Anachrony but the tough decisions and investment in infrastructure needed follows the same spirit.

You’re a farmer in a wooden shack with your spouse and little else. On a turn, you get to take only two actions (worker placement), one for you and one for the spouse, from all the possibilities you’ll find on a farm: collecting clay, wood, or stone; building fences; and so on. You might think about having kids in order to get more work accomplished, but first you need to expand your house. For 1 – 5 players, games last about 30 – 150 minutes.

Here you are building up a Viking civilization as opposed to growing your ability to move through a path, but the rich options, story and path options make both these titles great.

Set at the end of the Carolingian Empire, circa 850 AD, you are a royal architect who must compete to impress your King. You will need to collect raw materials, hire apprentices, and keep a watchful eye on their workforce. These are treacherous times, points are gained by constructing various buildings and advancing work on the Archbishop’s cathedral, but look out, rival architects will stop at nothing to slow your progress. For 1 – 5 players, games go for about 60 – 80 minutes.
