Continue if you are looking for games like Block Ness and are curious about what similar games to play next. Players take turns choosing a monster segment from their reserve and using it to increase the length of their creature on the Loch game board. Each new segment must be placed next to your monster’s head or tail — with the head or tail piece then moving to the far side of the newly-placed piece — and you can cross the path of other monsters on the board only if you can go above them.

To determine this list we broke down Block Ness to what it is. This is an area control and spatial recognition game built for kids and families. Space is running out and you need to masterfully weave around your two-ended serpent to get as much space as possible. If you are looking for something similar, you have come to the right place. We took all this into consideration and came up with this list of the 5 board games like Block Ness.

Mucca Pazza Board Game

#05 | Mucca Pazza

Mucca Pazza makes the list of board games like Block Ness because it is another kid friendly quick-fire strategy game in the same vein. This is more about the theme and getting the kids excited. Ten different animals from the planet “Kuhpiter” have landed on Earth – but the muddleheaded cow Mucca Pazza has pushed the wrong button on the teleporter, mixing them up. If this is the direction you are looking to go in, this is a great choice.

The head, body and legs of ten animals are shuffled, then placed on the three sliding rails of the game board. Ten animal chits are placed at random at the top of the game board. On a turn, a player has up to three sliding steps to recreate a particular animal; if they do, they claim any matching chits above the game board, then more chits are drawn so that ten are always available. Most collected wins. For 2 – 4 players, games last a quick 15 minutes.

Tsuro Board Game

#04 | Tsuro

Tsuro makes the list of board games like Block Ness because it is another great abstract strategy game about playing tiles and moving around the board to try to outlast your opponents. It is a beautiful and beautifully simple game, and one with a quick cutthroat back and forth.

The goal is to keep your token on the board longer than anyone else’s, but as the board fills up this becomes harder because there are fewer empty spaces left… and another player’s tile may also extend your own path in a direction you’d rather not go. For 2 – 8 players, games last approximately 15 minutes.

#03 | CTRL

CTRL makes the list of board games like Block Ness because of the tight space being fought over by line continuations of all the players. Block Ness makes you snake around a line from one of your end points, you do the same thing here but instead it is around a three-dimensional cube.

Players try to dominate a cube by crawling over it with their colored bricks, preferably covering other players’ bricks along the way. Your 3 block path can go in any direction, but you need to be strategic to make sure you end with the most blocks showing on all the sides of this 3D cube. For 2 – 4 players, games run approximately 20 minutes.

Battle Sheep Board Game Gameplay Overview

#02 | Battle Sheep

Battle Sheep makes the list of board games like Block Ness because this is another area control and spatial recognition game. You have to continue your existing area to take over more area. You want to grab as much space as you can while blocking your opponents whenever you can.

Players start the game by constructing the board from identical four-hex tiles, then each player places his/her tall stack of discs on one of the border hexes. Players take turns removing some number of discs from the top of one of their stacks, moving that new stack of discs as far away as it can go in a straight line. For 2 – 4 players, games run a quick 15 minutes each.

Hey Thats My Fish Board Game

#01 | Hey, That’s My Fish!

Hey, That’s My Fish! takes the top spot on the list of board games like Block Ness because it is the same kind of race for space against other players. This game also happens to have a cute animal motif that takes place on a shifting body of water. This is another fun one that is built for family play.

Players want to catch as many fish as possible with their waddle of penguins. Each turn, a player moves one penguin in a straight line over hex-shaped ice tiles with 1, 2 or 3 fish on them. The player then collects the hex from where the penguin started its movement from the table, thereby creating a gap in which penguins can’t cross on future turns. When a penguin can’t move, it’s removed from play. Most fish at the end wins. For 2 – 4 players, games go about 20 minutes.
