Continue if you are looking for games like Cards Against Humanity and are curious about something similar to play next. Cards Against Humanity is probably the most popular adult party board games to ever be released since the beginning of time. Released in 2009. this card based matching and judging game has been a hit ever since. Originally starting as a Kickstarter, it was a great story to see this one blow up so much. The game uses a simple suggestion and matching via a judge component that isn’t too unique, but was very popularized by this game.

Basically there are black and white cards that work together. Players have hands of white cards and each turn a black card comes up. Each person submits a white card to go with it and players take turns judging. Whoever the judge picks as the winner gets a point. It is simple but the writing is great. It is very over the top and raunchy which spawns some pretty fantastic conversations, the game is a lot of fun. If you like this game and are looking for something similar. this is for you. Monikers Board Game

#05 | Monikers

The bottom spot on the list of games like Cards Against Humanity is the one that does not have the “judge” component of a player making a ruling based on submitted options. Monikers is a party game based on Celebrity, where players take turns attempting to get their teammates to guess names by describing or imitating well-known people. In the first round, clue givers can say anything they want, except for the name itself.

For the second round, clue givers can only say one word. And in the final round, clue givers can’t say anything at all: they can only use gestures and charades. Monikers is similar to Cards Against Humanity in the discussions you have with one another. It might not get as graphic, but there is plenty of adult out loud laughing to be had. For 4 – 16 players, games last about 30 – 60 minutes for ages 17+.

Superfight Board Game Overview

#04 | Superfight

The core deck contains 500 cards. 170 characters (white cards), and 330 powers and weaknesses (black cards). Players use a hand of three white cards and three black cards, and choose one of each to beat the player next to them. Then they get a random black card before fighting. Players then argue their case for why they should win, and the table votes.

While there are differences in the voting mechanic and the subject matter is different, the conversations are not that different. Think about it, when you have to explain things like why Hillary Clinton armed with a shotgun who can’t see should win in a fight. Certainly a lesser-known game on the list of games like Cards Against Humanity, but a fun and strage one. For 3 – 10 players. games last about 30 minutes, for ages 10+.

#03 | Apples to Apples

Apples to Apples is the PG version on the list of games like Cards Against Humanity. It is the same game, but not at all dirty, in fact almost educational. The party game Apples to Apples consists of two decks of cards: Things and Descriptions. Each round, the active player draws a Description card (which features an adjective like “Hairy” or “Smarmy”) from the deck, then the other players each secretly choose the Thing card in hand that best matches that description and plays it face-down on the table.

The active player then reveals these cards and chooses the Thing card that, in his opinion, best matches the Description card, which he awards to whoever played that Thing card. This player becomes the new active player for the next round. What you do lose are the very adult themes and conversations. For 4 – 10 players, games last about 30 minutes, for ages 8+.

Dixit Board Game Overview

#02 | Dixit

Dixit takes the main “judging” component and sees it adapted to storytelling but with some interesting twists. One player is the storyteller for the turn and looks at the images on the 6 cards in their hand. From one of these, they make up a sentence and says it out loud (without showing the card to the other players). Each other player selects the card in their hands which best matches the sentence and gives the selected card to the storyteller, without showing it to the others.

The storyteller shuffles her card with all the received cards. All pictures are shown face up and every player has to bet upon which picture was the storyteller’s. Then an interesting round of scorekeeping happens (as a storyteller you want some people to guess you but not everyone and points reflect this). Easily one of the most enjoyable games on the list of games like Cards Against Humanity. For 3 – 6 players, games last about 30 minutes, for ages 8+.

#01 | What Do You Meme?

The top spot on the list of games like Cards Against Humanity goes to one that is the exact same game but with pictures. What Do You Meme? is a party card game for the social media generation. Each round, one player takes the role of judge and plays a photo card, after which everyone else plays a caption card to complete the meme.

The judge decides the funniest pairing, and whoever played the winning caption card wins the round. Lather, rinse and repeat. This game tends to be less raunchy that Cards Against Humanity so it is a bit more open to the whole family, but there are still many captions that you may not want to hear your grandma say. For 3 – 20 players, games last about 30 – 90 minutes, for ages 17+.
