Monopoly Board Game Go Space

#05 | Monopoly

Monopoly just makes the list of board games like Evil Corp because It is a territory investment game where you are constantly trying to take out your opponents. You buy properties wherever you can get them for income to fuel your master plan of building expensive housing on your monopolies. Then with the player camaraderie there is always a trade or some kind of political player versus player dealings. Many of the connections are loose, but the variety of them add up.

You are a landowner attempting to buy and then develop your land. Being represented by one of the iconic tokens, you roll two dice and move that many spaces forward around the board. Along the way you spend money to pick up property. If you are able to get a set of properties, either by landing on them or trading with a player, you have a monopoly and can build up structures that earn you big bucks and hopefully bankrupt all other players that land there. For 2 – 8 players, games last 1 – 3 hours.

#04 | Terraforming Mars

Terraforming Mars makes the list of board games like Evil Corp because of the combination of engine building toward epic milestones to the variety of ways that you can attempt to sabotage the other players. The ultimate goal is to build, but as a maybe-not-so-ethical CEO you will do what it takes. This has a much higher intensity and plays as a strategy game as opposed to more of a party one, but it has many of the elements that make Evil Corp a good experience.

You are a corporation working with other corporations to make Mars inhabitable, but not in a co-op game way, you are very much trying to defeat others and be the best. You have six resources you can build up and you have countless options you can take and which path to victory you want to strategize toward. The overall goal is to get the most points. Raise the life conditions (oxygen, water, temp), mine, settle, focus on science, focus on nature, many options. For 1 – 5 players, games take 1.5 – 3 hours.

#03 | Rising Sun

Rising Sun makes the list of board games like Evil Corp because of the territory control and evolution of your overall influence. This is a much more strategic and intense game but the mix of area control and pushing your opponents aside to get ahead are both there.

As the Kami descend from the heavens to reshape the land in their image, it is up to each player to lead their clan to victory. Use politics to further your cause, negotiate to seek the most profitable alliances, worship the Kami to gain their favor, recruit monsters out of legend to bolster your forces, and use your resources wisely to be victorious in battle. For 3 – 5 players, games run 90 – 120 minutes.

#02 | Secrets

Secrets makes the list of board games like Evil Corp because it is a take that game that plays like both a strategy and party title. You are drafting cards instead of managing a hand, and hidden roles determine much of the play but at the end of the day you need to take down the others to win.

On your turn, offer one of two randomly drawn agent cards to another player. These cards are worth points and have varying good or bad abilities. That player either accepts the agent, in which case they score it, or they refuse, in which case the card returns to you, and you score it. The game ends when a player has five cards, after which the teams are revealed; the team with the highest combined score wins, unless a Hippie has the single lowest score, in which case they win. For 4 – 8 players, games run 15 – 35 minutes.

Unfair Board Game

#01 | Unfair

Unfair takes the top spot on the list of board games like Evil Corp because this is a fun and lively development game with a healthy dose of dunking on your opponents. Instead of putting together a massive app to change the world, the subject is building up a theme park.

Your goal is to build the park that scores the most points at game end, using three main ways to score: build tall attractions with upgrades, match blueprints to achieve hidden objectives or buy your way to victory with cash. This is a card game where you put down events and spend accrued money on upgrades and attractions. The name comes from the fact that every good event for you also has a negative for someone else. For 2 – 5 players, games go 50 – 125 minutes.
