Continue if you are looking for games like Ohanami and are curious about what similar games to play next. Games take place over 3 rounds where each round has players drafting 10 cards. Cards are cherry blossoms that have a number 1 – 120 on it (one card per number). Each player has three “garden” columns in front of them that grow over the 3 rounds as you add cards into them. The only rule is that the numbers have to go in ascending orders. If you placed a 32, then you can’t put down a 28 or 16 down on that column. Each card is one of four colors and that directly affects scoring, where after each round, certain colors get are scored.

To determine this list we broke down Ohanami to what it is. This is a very light intensity card drafting game with an interesting player area building mechanic that has just enough restrictions to keep this interesting. This is a very mobile game that you can very easily get on and off the table. If you are looking for something similar, you have come to the right place. We took all this into consideration and came up with this list of the 5 board games like Ohanami.

Ion A Compound Building Game Board Game

#03 | Ion: A Compound Building Game

Ion: A Compound Building Game makes the list of board games like Ohanami because it too is another game that has a very similar playthrough in the card drafting and set collection space. Instead of taking numbers to fit into ascending columns, here, you are dealing with the simple task of creating sets of compounds and inert noble gases.

Each player is dealt eight cards, must select one of those cards and then passes the remaining. Players must choose to either bond (pair) their selected card with another Element Card or set it alone (possibly to form an ionic bond at a later time). Players score points based upon the quantity and type of neutrally balanced compounds they construct and noble gas sets they collect. For 2 – 7 players, games go for about 20 – 40 minutes.

#01 | Sushi Go Party!

Sushi Go Party! takes the top spot on the list of board games like Ohanami because not only is it one of the most popular card drafting and set collection game, but so much of the magic is in the fantastic artwork. This title has the most adorable artwork out there. Technically its predessesor “Sushi Go!” is more like Ohanami, but we always reccomend the “Party” version because it is the same game but can accomodate more people and has additional scoring options.

This is a game about playing with your dinner, and there are all sorts of adorable sushi cards (tempura, dumplings, etc) that help you do this. Over 3 rounds players draft one card at a time to complete sets. Each card has its own special thing (like collect 4x of these and get 12 points) and it is up to you to strategically see what is coming around and pick the right card. Points are scored and new cards handed out in between each round. For 2 – 8 players, games last about 20 minutes each.
