Twice As Clever (or Doppelt So Clever) is a roll-n-write board game and follow up to the acclaimed That’s Pretty Clever (Ganz Schön Clever) from the same folks. It uses incredibly imaginative and, well, clever cross set collection mechanisms. One to four players get their own score sheet and chance to roll the dice. Over three rolls the active player needs to select 3 different dice with colors that correlate to different scoring options. Make the right choices, get the highest score and win. If you are intrigued and want more this list of similar games is for you. This is the list of 5 games like Twice As Clever (aka Doppelt So Clever).

#05 | Rolling America
Rolling America is certainly different to some extent but it has lots of similarities to Twice as Clever. Rolling America is kind of like Sudoku meets a roll-n-right game. America is broken up into five colored sections with many smaller sections within each. You need to roll dice and fill in spaces. It gets tougher as you go because if you are filling in a space adjacent to an existing space, the number can only be up to one number away (a 5 has to go next to a 6 as so on). It turns into an intriguing puzzle. This is on the list of games like Twice As Clever because it is ultimately about filling in a few different scoring areas with dice rolls that will ultimately all work together. This is a very light and portable one worth checking out.

#04 | Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age
Roll Through the Ages makes the list of games like Twice As Clever because it takes a somewhat similar dice mechanic and takes it in a thematic direction of building a civilization. Players roll dice to obtain commodities and workers to build up their civilizations. Dice can be rerolled twice unless they come up as a hazard. Players use their workers to build infrastructure to support additional works or to build monuments that are worth points. At the same time, commodities are gathered that allow your civilization to develop. Once all monuments or five developments are achieved by a player, the game ends at the end of the round, points are counted, and a victor is declared.

#03 | Qwixx
Qwixx is a quick-playing dice game in which everyone participates, no matter whose turn it is. Each player has a scoresheet with the numbers 2-12 in rows of red and yellow and the numbers 12-2 in rows of green and blue. To score points you want to mark off as many numbers as possible, but you can mark off a number only if it’s to the right of all marked-off numbers in the same row. Similar to Twice As Clever, there is no fancy theme here, it is about the dice and the numbers and the interesting scoring combinations you can make.

#02 | Encore! (aka Noch Mal!)
In Encore! the dice determine which color and how many spaces you can mark off on your playing sheet — but the starting player may first evaluate what everyone’s doing, then remove two dice, leaving everyone else to make their choices with the dice that remain. Encore! is like Twice as Clever because it has its own crazy unique scoring ecosystem. It is a dice driven roll-n-write that makes you think. This was an easy addition to the list of games like Twice As Clever.

#01 | That’s Pretty Clever (aka Ganz Schön Clever)
We would normally not put games that are spin-off like titles on the list of games like Twice As Clever, but we had to make an exception for That’s Pretty Clever. The top spot on the list of games like Twice As Clever goes to its predecessor. Both games (from the same publisher and designer) use the same base mechanic about how you roll and score points, but with this sequel, they brought in completely new scoring mechanisms. This changes the strategy 100%, it is like discovering the game for the first time all over again. If you are looking for something similar to Twice As Clever, definitely start here.
