September 29, 2021 – Publisher The Op announced this morning that retro-style video game Cuphead is getting a dice rolling board game. Cuphead: Fast Rolling Dice Game puts the speed and agility you mastered in 2D right back in your hands, as you roll your way through progressively more chaotic levels and aim for a personal best.
From the popular Cuphead video game, comes an all-new fast action, original cooperative dice game where players must roll dice to defeat iconic bosses. Featuring the classic hand-drawn 1930’s art style, this card and dice game emulates the side-scrolling, run-and-gun excitement from the video game.
Play will be for 1-4 players, ages 12 and up. The game releases November 4, 2021, and is available for pre-order from the publisher now for a price of $49.99.
Players will take on the roles of Cuphead, Mugman, Ms. Chalice, and Elder Kettle and all play at the same time, quickly rolling their personal attack dice to collect sets that will allow them to avoid attacks and do damage to level Bosses. Eight fan favorite bosses await challengers, each contained in separate boxes that can only be unlocked once the previous Boss is defeated.
Luck and strategy are mainly at play as you strive for the right combos, but look forward to having Wallop cards and EX dice in the mix, inspired by features from the video game, to make the most of rolls within time limits. Boosting your power and damage will help you win the battle and earn coins towards upgrades at Porkrind’s Emporium! You can almost hear the ragtime piano now.
With every unpredictable result comes a different way to improve your strategy and high score, which is tallied based on multiple stat categories: remaining Health and Parry tokens, Wallop cards, and time tokens. Just like in the classic Cuphead game experience, these categories combine to give you a point total that grades your run academically from A to F. Not only will you keep aiming for a better grade, but a free companion app to the game will provide a handy dandy way to keep time and tabulate grades! A great slam and then some!

Cuphead is a 2017 run and gun video game developed and published by Studio MDHR. The game was inspired by the rubber hose style of animation used in cartoons from the golden age of American animation, such as the works of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Fleischer Studios, and it sought to emulate their subversive and surrealist qualities. It is centered around continual boss fights.
This announcement comes on the same day that the publisher also announced a new Goonies escape room board game to be released at the same time. The publisher whose origins started in releasing hundreds of different Monopoly games has certainly been branching out quite a bit since then while still staying within their IP licensing roots.
