Our Second Chance review, what we have to say about the light Tetris lovers puzzle roll-n-write game. You have an individual score grid and each turn a few different shape options come up for you to add into your individual area. The winner is the person with the least amount of empty spaces remaining at the end. This game is built to be lightweight and is as breezy as they come. You can learn in under five minutes and play in under fifteen.
We took a look across fun, replayability, player interaction, quality and art & style to come up with the overall score for our Second Chance review. See the breakdown by category below.

Fun (5 out of 10)
The game is built to be incredibly simple and it achieves it. In our initial thoughts we said we were disappointed there was not some indicator of the future that added strategy but we were wrong. There is plenty of strategy here. With a limited number of shapes available, you really have to be careful in what areas of your board you fill out. We thought it would just be a random who cares but it is not at all. That paired with the many paths to victory and the starting piece forcing that path to always be different akes for a fun game.
Replayability (6 out of 10)
The Replayability score in this Second Chance review is very good. These games can get to be repetitive, once you figure out the right path to victory, the luster is gone, but the path here is always completely different. And with the quick playtime, this is a very easy one to play over and over. Even though it is very light and not too much to it, the back and forth with who is going to come out on top adds a lot of meat to the bone.
Player Interaction (4 out of 10)
There is absolutely none which is why the Second Chance review player interaction score is so low. The reason it is not lower is because this is a roll-n-write and generally this is how they are. The player interaction is who can do a better job at the end of that 10 minute run. That is enough to be a satisfying game but it would be nice if there was something.
Quality (6 out of 10)
There is always a debate in what does it mean to be high quality. Is it that game that has 2000 rules and takes 4 hours to play or is it something else. We always hold that it is having a worthwhile goal and achieving it. Second Chance achieve their goal of making something very simple. There are lots of Tetris-fill-the-grid like games but in a crowded market place, they still find a way to bring something special.
Art & Style (4 out of 10)
The game is just middle of the road in the art & style category in this Second Chance review. They get points because they have a situation where there is no place to inject theme or color or interesting elements, but they find a way to kind of get that done. They added these wonderful pops of color that are beautiful and keep you intrigued but they are kind of meaningless. Smart though, if it was just about pencil or one color pen, the look would be so dreary to look at.

Second Chance Review | Board Game Halv

All and all, this Second Chance review is a recommend to anyone who likes puzzles and roll-n-writes and a big recommend for anyone who loves Tetris. This game is incredibly simple by design but has enough strategy to keep in fun. As for other games it is kind of like, this has better replayability but slightly worse player interaction.
