February 17, 2021 – Coming this June, the Steller design team announces new Space Hand Management Title Subastral. Publisher Renegade Games reveled today that Ben Pinchback and Matt Riddle (Fleet, Piepmatz) are reteaming to bring this title to reality. Additionally, Beth Sobel (Arboretum, Calico) is also on board to handle artwork.
The game is available for pre-order now with a delivery date estimated for June.
The goal of the game is to collect cards in sets: both mixed sets (i.e., cards from all different biomes) and matching sets (i.e., cards from the same biome). The placement of the cards in your journal affects how the sets will score at the end of the game.
However, you cannot play cards from your hand directly to your journal. Instead, you play cards to one of the clouds in the center row, then take all of the cards from another cloud in the center row and add them to your hand or journal. You must play a card from hand every turn, which means that you have to strike a careful balance between growing your journal and keeping your hand stocked with cards so that you don’t run out of options!

Subastral is the newest game from the award-winning design team of Matt Riddle and Ben Pinchback (and recent designers of Stellar). It’s is a strategic card game for 2–5 researchers, taking 15-30 minutes to play. Collect cards that represent your notes on eight different biomes: subtropical desert, savanna, tropical rainforest, chaparral, temperate grassland, temperate forest, taiga, and arctic tundra.
Subastral uses a blend of hand-management, and set collection, with the twist that WHEN you collect a set matters too.
Featuring beautiful art by artist Beth Sobel, Subastral will be gracing tabletops this Summer.
