Our The Game Quick and Easy review, what we have to say about the very light cooperative card game. This title has you playing all fifty cards in the deck on the two discard piles. The deck consists of fifty cards, with cards coming in five colors numbered 1-10 in each color. Players need to play at least one card per turn that can fit into one of those pile or the game is over. This is unless you have a duplicate color and can reset the pile. If you need something to get to the table quickly and play lightheartedly with others, this title might be for you.

We took a look across fun, replayability, player interaction, quality and art & style to come up with the overall score for our The Game Quick and Easy review. See the breakdown by category below.

Fun (7 out of 10)

For the fun section of the Game Quick and Easy review, we award a very good 7 out of 10. The original “The Game” was already a lightweight game, but this alternative stand alone version is exactly what its title implies, it is quicker and easier. It is fun too if that is what you want. This game knows exactly what it is, the most bare bones version of a simple and ingenious collaborative gaming mechanic. It almost seems like an Uno or skipbo in how gameplay is straightforward but there is just one wrench that can change everything.

The idea is that you collectively need to lay all of the cards. There are two stacks in the center, one that always goes up and one that always goes down. You must play one or two cards from your hand each turn that must fit in one of these stacks. If you play a 6, it would have to be higher than any number on the ascending stack to place there or lower than the number showing on the descending stack for example. The cards are each one of four colors and the only way to break this chain is to place duplicate colors. It is that clear cut, simple filler game fun.

Replayability (6 out of 10)

For the replayability section of the Game Quick and Easy review, we award a solid 6 out of 10. You can be in an out of this game in 15 minutes. Setup, dismantle and play are nothing. This game is something simple to bust out and makes it incredibly easy to do so. That is why these types of games are called filler games, they are ready to fill any gap at any given time, and this game fills it as well as any other.

That being said, there are probably better cooperative card games The original Game (which this is based off of) is one of them. That original title already did the same thing, to bring it down even further there must have been for a very specific reason that we cannot identify. So if you can choose only one, go original, but if you end up with this as your only option, you are in good hands. This game is just light, it is the light version of light, and since it does go simple, it can get a bit stale.

Player Interaction (6 out of 10)

For the player interaction section of the Game Quick and Easy review, we award a good 6 out of 10. This is a cooperative game, so this is an important category. How you work together is the exact thing your success is measured on. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, while one can still make that reference, the original is better here. But this is not The Game vs The Game Quick & Easy (Coming Soon). Player interaction in this game does the trick but it is lacking given the key role it should play in this type of game.

The way interaction works is you need to place cards that are going to give your opponent the freedom to play something from their hand after you go. You have no idea what they have and its a pretty small spectrum anyway so who knows if that would help. Where it is supposed to help is the same color reset option. Your neighbor goes, “I have a high value red” and so you place a red card for them to double up on. That is pretty forward, and doesn’t create a ton of paths or options. Again, this game is straight to the point and there is not supposed to be anything complex, but there could be something else there to kick this up.

Quality (6 out of 10)

For the quality section of the Game Quick and Easy review, we award a solid 6 out of 10. You have to give them credit, to get a game this stripped down (quick & easy) and still fun is an accomplishment. If you sit down and do the math of probability you would see that that task at hand is just over the line of impossible and how you use your colored cards puts the outcome of the game in your hands. Nice points to balance. Full disclosure, we haven’t done that, we are guessing.

This game is cards and nothing else. It is crammed into as small of box as possible and it is delivered to you in the most efficient and price effective package possible. This is exactly what should have been done and it was done well. This is a great stocking stuffer type of gift and they have created something with a great price point that reflects that.

Art & Style (6 out of 10)

For the art & style section of the Game Quick and Easy review, we award a good 6 out of 10. There is not much to this game so it is hard to say much, but they do manage to sneak in a nice unifying theme. There are light hearted ghoulish skeleton figures acorss all the cards. It is a nice touch to have something like that.
