December 8, 2021 – Publisher Pandasaurus Games has announced a brand new set collection and slope-hitting game. Ticket To Ride Meets Tokaido in upcoming Skull Canyon: Ski Fest. The new sports game is available for pre-order now for $39.95 and is set to release on April 13, 2022.
Like in Ticket To Ride, you play sets of cards like you would in games to ski down a slope – the harder the run, the more cards you’ll need in your set. Like in Tokaido, at the end of each day, you take turns visiting cabins with powerful actions to set yourself up for the next day.
ABOUT SKULL CANYON: SKI FEST
2-4 players | 45-60 min | Ages 14+ | Set collection, Worker placement, Track movement
Skull Canyon Ski Resort is finally celebrating their grand re-opening with a huge festival, after being closed for many snowy seasons in a row. Hopefully, by now skiers have forgotten the rumors of yeti sightings on the mountains…
Hit the slopes and brave the terrain, competing against other skiers for points and fame. Play sets of cards to complete a run, but remember do it with style to wow the onlookers! Take the lift to reach different parts of the mountain and claim the most difficult runs!
Once the sun sets, Après-Ski begins and tired skiers can spend their evenings at different hangouts, recouping and planning for the next busy day of skiing. Out-ski your opponents to become the new legend of Skull Canyon!
The game is designed by board game newcomers Jason Klinke and Kip Noschese. Not new to the game, pun intended, is illustrator Gica Tam who is behind the gorgeous art that can be found in games like Gods Love Dinosaurs and Wayfinders.
No titles on the list of the best sports board games are skiing-related so this is a refreshing addition to the board game world and the “approachable mechanics, interesting decisions, and a fun theme appeal to many types of players” should be a welcome addition to any game night.
