“Welcome To…” or “Welcome To Your Perfect Neighborhood” is an outstanding game in the roll-and-write genre. Everyone has a scoresheet, something happens everyone has to take a score for when your sheet fills up to calculate a final score. That is roll and write. This version finds you with a city filled with empty houses and possible neighborhoods. Every turn you get to choose from three central numbers and actions (such as build a pool or fence) to fill out your sheet. Achieve different bonuses to get the highest score. Though a very new game it has ascended to huge popularity and with good reason. This is the Welcome To review.

WELCOME TO REVIEW by BOARD GAME HALV

– CATEGORY BREAKDOWN –

Fun (10 out of 10)

This game has really set the bar high for the genre. The ingenuity in this game makes it something you never want to stop playing. Every game there is a new strategy you want to attempt or that big bonus you want to hit this time. You give yourself options that start to dwindle the further you get, but then you get that perfect number that slots into the last spot you need and you rejoice. It is a rollercoaster of emotion.

Replayability (6 out of 10)

This game is lightweight, quick, easy and fun. It is easy to get lost in a quick 5 or 6 games without thinking about it. But it is always the same game, the objectives change a little, but that’s not very much. The quality and fun are enough to keep you coming back, but if you are looking for something fresh every game, time will run out.

Player Interaction (5 out of 10)

This game has a lot, but one thing it does not have is player interaction. For the most part you are worried about your town and nothing else, and nothing anyone else does effects you. There are a few elements though. Everyone is fighting over the same objectives to get big point bonuses. There is also the satisfaction of getting that perfect number and action combo knowing you started with the same exact blank board as your opponent except they blew it.

Quality (9 out of 10)

This game is definitely a trendsetter. It has been a long time since a game in their genre has this level of sophistication and depth. As always, the simple to learn but impossible to master structure gets high marks. Everything is well put together and well produced.

Art & Style (10 out of 10)

This game makes the list for having terrific art, they really nailed it. The game is based on being back in the 1940s and the quaint suburbs popping everywhere would have a charming “Welcome To [town name]” sign. This comes across everything and the style choices and attention to detail are top-notch.

Welcome To Review | Board Game Halv

This type of game surprises people all the time. They do not think of the classic dice roller but when they do it blows their mind to think about how similar yet completely different the games are. Little moves can make a big difference and this goes a long way to make games competitive and keep things interesting. It's quick, it's portable and it's accommodating to any size/type of group. That is why it is on the list of games to start your collection with. But more than that, it is just an overall fun game that continues to be an amazing journey over and over again. People who like this one also tend to like Railroad Ink. We hope this Welcome To review has been helpful.
