Blinks System Review | Blinks on Kickstarter

1. How would you describe your product in 2 sentences?

Blinks is the world’s first smart tabletop game system with pieces that respond to touch, communicate with neighbors, and think for themselves! Just grab your Blink, choose your game, and connect them together to get started in seconds. Each game is easy to learn, fun to play, and can be taken anywhere.

2. Introduce the team bringing this to market? What is your background that brought you to launching this?

Blinks was created by Move38, a new kind of game and toy company started by MIT Media Lab Alumni, Jonathan Bobrow.

The only thing cooler than Blinks themselves is the team and community behind them. Blinks is a product of curiosity, exploration and excitement from the design, tech, and gaming communities. From workshops at Maker Faires to game jams with Playcrafting, IndieCade, and the NYU Game Center, lots of people have been brought together by Blinks.

The full team behind this Kickstarter is: Jonathan Bobrow, Ishmael Asante, Daniel King, Marty Wood, Josh Levine, Mary Georgescu, Robert Canciello, Nicole Polidore, Connor Wolf, Jacob Surovsky and Elizabeth Yuan.

3. What existing games / apps / experiences would you compare your game to?

Blinks is it’s own unique experience that offers the seamless blend of classic tabletop games and arcade-like experiences. As many reviewers have put it, “Blinks plays like a game from the future.”

4. What sets your game apart?

Blinks are the world’s first smart tabletop game system. Intelligent game pieces respond to touch, talk to their neighbors, and play all sorts of games: action, puzzle, strategy, party names, you name it. Blinks are also modular, so more Blinks, more games, more fun. Blinks is also open-source meaning that we’ve made it easy for people to code their own games for the Blinks platform.

5. How can everyone be assured that they are going to get quality components and you are going to deliver on all the promises you are making?

This will be the 4th production run of Blinks. We are teamed up with one of the most professional manufacturers around. They produce some of your favorite items from Lego and Mattel.

6. Why should someone back your project?

This Kickstarter is the perfect time to get into Blinks. We have an amazing deal to get started with Blinks Game System—a premium reissue of 9 games in a single starter set. We’re also launching 6 amazing new Games in the Blinks Epic Adventure Expansion Set, including a collaboration with the team at Big Potato Games.
