1. How would you describe your product in a few sentences?

Pets ‘n’ Pirates is the perfect card game for modern pirates who love Tactical Penguins and fear the Kraken. Everybody should fear the Kraken. It is a strategic card game for 2-4 players, ages 7 and up. 15-25 minutes playtime.

Each player starts with a pirate captain and 3 adventure cards. The goal is to find the treasure card buried in the deck (or steal it from another pirate) and hold it up to the end of the game (when the last card is drawn from the deck). Every turn a player can look for the treasure in the main deck, spy on other players, attacking them, playing tricks, or all these actions combined.

At the end of each turn, the player draws a card from the deck: it could be the treasure, a powerful adventure card to keep for the next turn, or an unexpected event that must be shared with all the other pirate. Easy peasy? Not really! A cursed pirate is hiding in the deck waiting to take the treasure away from you.

2. Who are the team bringing this to market and what was your inspiration for doing so? What is your background that brought you to this point?

One morning my daughter Clara ask me if we had a pirate game for Girls. I couldn’t answer yes to that question as the games we had were far too complex (I was playtesting a euro/german game about a pirate empire at that time) or more for boys (not too many characters she could identify with). So I decided to take it really seriously and propose to Clara that we invent a game with our own rules and our own character as we like.

I started by asking what she wanted in a pirate game and the 3 first answers were: a Treasure, pirate girls (of course), and a Kraken. We built the game from there.

Later on we asked to my brother in law Camillo (a proper art director) to get involved both on the creative and marketing side. My profession is Compositor supervisor for Film and Netflix shows (from Avengers, to Chernobyl), while my daughter is still in year 3 :-).

3. What existing games would you compare your game to?

The game is a fun, easy to set up and play game similar to Exploding Kittens, Unstable unicorns and Bears vs babies.

4. What sets your game apart?

Pets ‘n’ Pirates is a unique combination of strategy fun and pull your luck, all under the mighty jolly roger flag.

5. How can everyone be assured that they are going to get quality components and you are going to deliver on all the promises you are making?

We are working for the best manufactures who has worked with the best boardgame project on KS. But don’t take my word on it. Soon there will be a review from Stella of Meeple University, who tried and play the first prototype.

6. Why should someone back your project?

If u love tactical penguins, crazy pirates and board game you should be already onboard! Ahr ahr ahr
