The Revolt! Board Game on Kickstarter
1. How would you describe your product in a few sentences?
Revolt! is a collaborative board game set in a parallel dystopia. Players are tasked with their own objectives while also attempting to prevent the Collapse–a universal lose condition that marks the end of civilization as well as the end of the game. Revolt! can be played with 3-5 players, and its dynamic gameplay makes it highly replayable.
2. Who is the team bringing this to market? What is your background that brought you to launching this?
AvianRampage Productions is a small independent studio based out of Washington, DC. We’re currently a three-person team, including Chloe Bridges, Mike McGee, and Alex Bridges, but we hope to grow our ranks along with the scope of our games.
We started AvianRampage because we not only wanted to make games that were thought-provoking and expressions of our values, but because we wanted to create a studio where everyone has a say and treats each other with respect. Having spent a few years in AAA video game development, Chloe and Mike knew that they wanted to make games in a different kind of environment.
As for Revolt!, it’s our way of expressing our frustrations with the systems that govern the world, as well as our anxieties about the dire problems facing humanity.

3. What existing games would you compare your game to?
One of our team’s favorite tabletop games is Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game, which is what first introduced us to crisis card mechanics. In Revolt!, crisis cards are at the heart of the gameplay, though the metaphor is a bit different. Unlike in Battlestar Galactica, there are no secret Cylon agents sabotaging things, just those in positions of power who often have the ability and resources to resolve crises, but won’t.
We were also inspired by Dead of Winter–specifically the way players control characters and how those characters can complement each other in interesting ways. We also appreciated that, unlike Battlestar Galactica, Dead of Winter didn’t take three hours to get through.
And of course, for those who’ve played our first game, Americana: The Card Game, we think you’ll find a similar layer of political and social commentary waiting for you if you scratch beneath the surface.
4. What sets your game apart?
Aside from its not-so-subtle commentary on current events, we wanted to make a game with an innovative approach to win and lose conditions. We say that Revolt! Is a “collaborative” game because while all players are trying to avoid the Collapse, each player has their own “mission” (i.e. win condition) that they must complete in addition to preventing the Collapse. This means that for all players (with rare exception), there are two ways to lose, one way to win, and a lot of tension in between. On top of all that, players’ missions often contradict one another, leading to all kinds of conflict.
5. How can everyone be assured that they are going to get quality components and you are going to deliver on all the promises you are making?
Revolt! is AvianRampage Production’s second game. We launched a successful Kickstarter campaign for our first game, Americana: The Card Game, in 2018, and were able to release the finished game as promised, later that year.
While Revolt! is a much bigger, more ambitious project, our team is more experienced now, and we have an additional designer working on the game. Beyond that, we’re publishing Revolt! through The Game Crafter, a reputable manufacturer that’s helped deliver countless tabletop games, including Americana: The Card Game.
6. Why should someone back your project?
If you’re looking for a game that’s thought-provoking as well as mechanically innovative, we’d love your help in getting Revolt! funded and onto your game shelf.

Well we are satisfied!
Great insight and enthusiasm from a passionate design team. This seems like a big game universe, with lots to do, all set against a very cool parallel dystopia. It has clearly been guided by passionate hands and looks like it is going to be a top-notch product. Take a look at their Kickstarter or social media pages for more info!
