Fun (5 out of 10)

For the fun section of the WWE Legends Royal Rumble Card Game review, we award an ok 5 out of 10. The game is an excitement and wrestling fandom explosion. Out of everything that has ever tried, this gaming experience is as close as you are going to get to being in the ring yourself.

It is such a good marriage of wrestling and board games which creates some wonderful fun, especially if you are a fan of the sport. With a wide variety in player count, the in the moment matchups vary dramatically and tensions can flare. The game is light and breezy to play but gets heated in the incredible player interaction which is all a great recipe for success.

Replayability (5 out of 10)

For the replayability section of the WWE Legends Royal Rumble Card Game review, we award a solid 5 out of 10. That game is action-packed and living in the exciting moment is always going to help with being an easy thing you can barrel through over and over, but repetition sets in just a little bit too quickly.

This is obviously going to happen when you are in a fighting game with only so much (how much can a wrestler really do in a ring), but the designers do a good job of keeping things fresh with a large roster of superstar legends with unique moves that change from game to game. You will have no problem playing this one a bunch of times, but other titles shine brighter in this category for sure.

Player Interaction (8 out of 10)

For the player interaction section of the WWE Legends Royal Rumble Card Game review, we award a great 8 out of 10. Perfection is nearly impossible to achieve, but we are willing to say that it has happened here. This is a royal rumble game, everything is player interaction, but that is not what does it. The game plays 2 – 10 players but it gets better as the count increases.

Games that start to get to a high player count get to be a bit of a mess or lack the ability to truly interact with everyone in a meaningful way. That is no way the case here. This game has been built to be, well, a rumble and who better to take that on than finally tuned wrestling legends that are some of the most iconic “characters” of all time.

Quality (5 out of 10)

For the quality section of the WWE Legends Royal Rumble Card Game review, we award a middle of the road 5 out of 10. This game has some balance issues and there is just not much to it. That’s fine, a game that owns its simplicity and is the best at what it does is often better than something incredibly complex that requires a novel to learn how to play, which is certainly the case here.

There is just not too wide of a spectrum of things to do that needed to be attended to, just like wrestling. Kick, punch, throw, block, it does get a bit repetitive. As for the components, there are many nice touches here. It is all cards, so not too many things to worry about, but it is so nice that the Legend cards are bigger than the action cards and little things like a nice finish and rounded corners will make things last.

Art & Style (7 out of 10)

For the fun section of the WWE Legends Royal Rumble Card Game review, we award a great 7 out of 10. It is probably not possible for anyone to do as much justice to the WWE (formerly WWF) brand and legend as this game. All the greats are represented fresh with their attitude and signature moves. This game is so thematic and it ties in with the mechanics so incredibly well.

How is the best way to make a wrestling game, one might ask. The answer is most definitely a Royal Rumble. In addition to the legends all being well represented, every move, block defense and other each has their own photography from a great moment in wrestling. The publishers did a fantastic job with this iconic brand license and they bring all the style and action in the moment of the sport itself.
